Episode 3 (Chapters 5 and6)

Episode 3 starts with a discussion about some deaths reported in Galilee, which gives some clues as to the unrest happening in Palestine in the first century, and alleged Roman atrocities. The rest of the episode contains some parables or illustrations of the Kingdom of God, and how it works – from fig trees to mustard seeds, and from farmers to fishing.

Jesus embarrasses some Pharisees and lawyers. He tells them they are clean outside since they follow the Law, but filthy on the inside with corruption of the heart. Not only that, they remind him of hidden tombs that people walk over without knowing somebody is down there. Now THAT’s a putdown.
